MusicWrite Maestro (ever heard of it)

Featured Replies

Hey all fellow composers,

As it seems most of you use some type of notation software (as opposed to the more traditional, albeit time consuming method of writing out your ideas by hand on manuscript paper) I was wondering if anyone had ever heard of MusicWrite Maestro, a notation progam published by Voyetra. I for one use it, after having experimented with the demo version. It is only obtainable via an internet download directly from Voyetra's website, and is quite inexpensive (as far as most notaion programs go) at about $100.00 dollars. I know the vast majority of everyone here seems to use some outrageously expensive progam such as Finale or Sibelius, which I would undoubtedly prefer to this limited and oft times glitch ridden program, but I for one, being a high school student, do not have $600 dollars to spend on music software that probably cost about 50 bucks to manufacture. The mark up value is ridiculous, and I find it disheartening that the price of these professional grade progams make composing and generating professional looking scores a luxury available only to thoes who have the finacial means to spend the greater portion of a thousand dollars on notation software.

So, I was just wondering if anyone had ever heard of or used MusicWrite Maestro, or any program under $200.00 dollars. Also note if you were satisfied with its capabilities, if there were any glitches, bugs etc. and what you would do to improve it (if anything).

Thanks everyone,

-James

Hey, James, you're in luck, because I am a Music Write user........Music Write 2000 that is lol. It was actually cheap (around $30), and it basically is capable of performing most of Finale or Sibelius's important functions. The interface isn't as user friendly as Finale , but it gets the job done once you get the hang of it.

Before you consider purchasing anything, you should download the free Finale notepad and see how you like that. If that satisfies your needs, i wouldn't bother buying anything, but that's just my opinion. :P

By the way, try "Lvbsx", it's not you ask, but really interesting. So far, demo/free is almost we need...
