Movement Two!!

So I composed this a few months ago for a piano quartet and decided to make the minor adjustments needed to be for a string quartet. (Note that this movement is not in G major, but B-flat major.)

I really like this. At first I was concerned about the opening - and at parts the score seems rather sparse. But I think that is completely fine. Very breathtaking.

Thank you very much. I assume by sparse you mean the lack of articulations and dynamics. And yes it is. I kept looking at it and trying figure out what I wanted but I couldn't put down just one way to play it. To me it seems very open to interpretation, seeing as the piece itself seems a bit introverted in my opinion. I noted everything I wanted set for sure, the dynamics in the begining, the intial softeness the one cresc. and decrec., and a handfull of bowings. I am not very picky with this one. lol.

By sparse, I meant at the opening you don't have all the instruments playing all at once. Instead you have 'sparsity' in your texture. Very few instruments playing at one time. I like it.

Wow, just incredible! The piece really does feel "introverted"...an interesting adjective, one that I've never heard used in connection with a piece of music, come to think of it, though it makes perfect sense that music can give either an introverted, closed feel, or an open, extroverted feel. Neat, I'd never thought of that before.

The "sparseness" that Woodruff spoke of helps the piece in this case: the sustained violins merging with the subtle changing of the other violins create a very neat, "closed" atmosphere, and it really works, I've found: I've done a similar thing in one of my movements, and it surprised me how well it works to just change a little thing in a group of violins, and give it a completely different feel.

Also, the lack of dynamics and articulations is only scarcely noticeable. If you said that there were, I'd have believed you, so I don't think that's a big deal.
