January 17, 201016 yr A piece written which was inspired by the notion of dreaming. The piece beings with a series of notes intended to protray the sleeper falling into the dream. Dream
January 17, 201016 yr I like your ideas here. Though I didn't quite get the idea of a sleeper falling into the dream - that could be the midi rendering of this work. Thanks for posting this.
January 18, 201016 yr Oh wow... I don't think I've ever read a more misleading description of a piece! It begins extremely quick: how in the world can this possibly be the musical equivalent of preparing to fall to sleep? Since when do hearts race right before falling to sleep? (Unless you're Dorothy from Kansas: if that's who you're trying to portray, ignore everything I'm saying right now and revel in your subtle genius, you sneak, you) Even if played softly, and with a human touch, and even holding down the pedal on the piano to boot, it simply doesn't work. If you're trying to get a dreamy feeling, definitely reconsider the beginning! That said, after the intro, it gets a very dreamy sound to it (of course, the midi doesn't show it, but I can definitely imagine it played with the human touch, and it does work this time), and it is very impressive in how you use just subtle variations to both drive home a point with musical repetition and not bore a listener at the same time. Very nice! Thanks for sharing, I really enjoyed this!
