A contrapuntal clavier piece for 3 voices.

El-russo: Your piece is "Forbidden", according to the link: it isn't working :( Could you try re-uploading it? I'd be happy to listen to it then :)

Here, I was finally able to re-upload both the mp3 file and the score. Took me a few attempts till I succeeded today.

Anyway, I'm waiting for your priceless critique, fellow musicians. :)

Wow, very nice! It doesn't have that steamy feel of some of your work, and instead I found myself bobbing along to this piece. Nicely done! I think the trills used are pretty obvious though, and I found that I always heard them where I expected to hear them. You may want to try changing them up, and putting that trill-emphasis on different parts of the piece to further liven-up this already very vivacious piece.

Thanks for sharing! :D

Very fine piece!!! The only remark I have is about the end, which I feel too sharp. Have you thought of adding a small codetta, maybe just one measure, before the final chord?

This is nice, and I really enjoy the sound of guitar. A few things: some of your leading-tone resolutions are non-existent or weak, which is fine as long as you're aware (like the E in your first measure or the treble G# in 19; it's unusual in the style to not hit the G# in the same register) and consistent. In 40 you restate your main idea, which is also fine, but in a contrapuntal piece you could do so many more interesting things than repeat it verbatim. I also recommend extending your ending since the piece stops a bit abruptly for my ears.

I really like this piece. I feel some of the counterpoint is a little overworked - bring in some newer ideas... freshen it up a little bit. I'm not exactly sure why you have this playing with a guitar and not piano - since this is in the piano uploads forum. If you intend this to be for guitar - let me know, and I will relocate this to the chamber uploads forum. Thanks for posting this.

I am ever so thankful for your comments, guys!

They are so true and constructive. I will get back to reworking this piece and a few others as well as soon as I gain some more technical and artistic experience. As of now when something doesn't come out quite well it takes me some time to get a clear vision of what must be done to correct it. Most of this time I don't play the piece and don't sit down to work at it, but rather listen to other composers' works and they keep playing in my head over and over until suddenly I realize what I could try to improve the initial piece of mine. The more knowledge I get the more I understand how to implement your priceless advice so again thank you very much for it.

As for the guitar sound... I would like you to take it as , say, a lautenwerk of sorts with dynamics added. Piano doesn't always satisfy me with this particular material and my sampled harpsichords... May be I'll try them next time, but this very sound I find the most suitable.

I think the guitar sound was cool sounding and would sound great for three guitars to perform this work. It could do a great job imitating the harpsichord. I think you really nailed the baroque style here.

Hi el russo, I'm kinda new here, but I'm just starting to browse fellow composers' works here and found your baroque keyboard stuff---I'm really enjoying these! I enjoy the guitar sound you've chosen, though as others have commented I'd love to hear a harpsichord sound as well.
