Dancing With Femme Fatale

Overall it's really good. Just seems to be a little loud. :ermm:

Hmm? What do you mean? :o

Thanks for commenting! :D

Do you really compose each of these works this quickly? sheesh...Nice work though. Lose the 1/8 on the pickup measure. I feel your fff dynamics are probably quite a bit dramatic for what you really intend. I think most of your compositions are really solid but that you really need to just compose something a little more slowly and really make a detailed, beautiful piece. I feel you gloss over your accompaniments a little bit in keeping the same block style (or whatever style) accompaniment throughout that just looks like copy and paste and vary the actual chord. I feel like you should experiment a little bit with your accompaniments. Overall very nice as all of your work is, just trying to give you something to think about.

Haha, yes, sometimes I compose as many as 1 piece a day :D

Ah, that's probably what maestro meant! I hadn't meant to have the part at 1:30 or so be fff: it was supposed to be f! xD Careless mistake there, I'll update it soon!

It's true, I have a shameless copy-and-paste, vary the chord structure style, xD, you're right about trying to vary more.

Thanks for the great suggestions and for commenting! ;)

No problem. Make sure that you don't confuse "Minimalist Composer" as your signature flaunts with "Lazy, Fast Composer."

I agree with what Ben said above. I want to add that I really see your music evolving and growing exponentially at this point in your career. What I would like to see - and trust me, this is the hardest part - is more of an emphasis on your overall development of ideas and harmonic growth. This piece, as with most your pieces, suffers from lack of development and lack of harmonic variance. Explore a little bit - make each line your own. To hell if other's don't like what you come up with... just do it.

Growing exponentially!? Wow, thanks!

I absolutely agree that this needs FAR more development: every time I hear this piece, it leaves me longing for SO much more! I will definitely take your advice here, although I don't know how long it will take me to do so suitably ;)

Well, Zach... go ahead and listen to your earlier works and then compare them with this one. Your actually starting to think like a true composer here - you're melodic lines are more thought out - your harmonic ideas are delineated and related to the harmony... you're not interjecting themes or ideas that make little to no sense - this work clearly shows that you're growing as a composer. Relish in it for the time being but then shoot higher. Post a work here that makes me go WOW!

Haha, don't get me wrong, I could see the growth as well! But I just hadn't considered HOW much so...

Again, thank you!

It's quite a lot. And I think it's exciting your compositional abilities are growing here on YC - and we all get to witness it!

Btw, tell me what you think of my new project: http://forum.youngcomposers.com/t23319/current-project/page__pid__330744__st__0entry330744

I'm going to submit that to the Morton Gould this year. Would love your commentary.

Now I relisten I remember the theme. I know I liked it, and kept stuck for a while... :D I think you added some grace notes, and trills and stuff?

I can't really compare it with the way it was, but I think you move away from the initial theme a bit soon? In your head it is, obviously, clear what you want, but in the presentation the initial theme is not really there yet. I imagine this is the result of overhauling an older work? I hope this makes sense...

For the record, it still is a nice piece ;)
