A Noiseless Patient Spider

Taken from the poem by Walt Whitman, this piece was clearly inspired by none other than Stravinksy. I don't know what else to say...Oh and it's not finished, but as folios come and go, i just quickly ended it because I ran out of time. So suggestions and critiques are welcome =)

A Noiseless Patient Spider

This has some very nice material in it! Be careful with your text setting - this poem in particular has a very clear progression of ideas, and the music should reflect that in some way (unless you're deliberately isolating the text and music from each other, which requires a very clear reason). Dynamic markings should go over the vocal line, rather than under it, to avoid collisions with the words. The final line that you have so far - "measureless space" is, in the poem, "measureless oceans of space." It's not a horrible thing to abridge a poem in music (Norman Dello Joio's setting of Christina Rossetti's "Come To Me" does this quite well) but be sure that it is again, a clear conscious thought.
