The Vision

Featured Replies

This is quite a nice piece.

Though, the chords didn't really seem to fit, IMO. The melody was sort of melancholic and tense, and I had the feeling that the chords didn't represent those same emotions.

Also, depending on what kind of situation this would play, the drums sorta caught me off guard.

I was picturing some sort of sad conversation, and then with the drums, it changed into a more heroic feel.

But then again, when I see the title "The Vision", I figure maybe something is revealed. So it could totally work, depending on the scene.

The ending was also rather abrupt, I'd let the strings slowly fade out.

Overall, not a bad composition :)

What kind of percussion is that? I have been wanting percussion sounds like that but am not sure what exactly it is. Very nice theme. I agree with Nicrion on the chords issue. I think the piano chords don't exactly fit the melody. Although it is a very nice melody. I like the strings especially

I wish the ostinato quieted with the LH at 0:10. That would have sounded much more musical rather than copy paste feel it currently has. There's no expression to it right now; it needs to be more musical.

Something about your transition to the drums section isn't thrilling me. I think it's because the phrase before it felt prematurely cut. Can you end this phrase better or maybe have the drums to a pick-up that overlaps the end of that phrase?

A little reverb on the piano would sound nicer; I can hear it in a larger space.

Nice orchestra at 1:24; it feels really good with those harmonies.

I wish the orchestra finished a bit better. It just kinda poofed into a puff of smoke around 1:42. Not even a final note when it dies away? C'mon Im_y_cia, you gotta give us more than that.

Keep working on it.

-John

Hi lm_y_cia, nice to see you around!!

It's certainly not a bad piece, in fact, it's pretty good. The start was really good though, the piano set up up the scene nicely. However, it seemed to just wander around a little when the strings came it. Some brushing up on the chords would be nice.

However, I quite like the drums came in, it really added some texture into the piece. The ending was a little abrupt though (a little bit of a pity), like Nicrion said, but with a little bit of work, this would be quite nice.

Look forward to see how this turns out, should you carry on. Also, is there any chance of listing what you used to compose this? I think some of us are quite interested it that :phones:

Hey there,

I have very little to add to what's already been said except to specify that you need to spend a LOT more time working on the sequencing, because you have excellent samples and are hardly making the best use of them. Your note transitions, attacks, and repetitions all sound extremely mechanical, so even though you have realistic samples, the resulting piece sounds very fake.

Musically, it's nothing complicated, but it's certainly pretty. You say it's a "test to a tv series" — can you explain what you mean a bit?
