Op. 8-String Quartet No. 1-Allegro con anima

Featured Replies

this sounds interesting!

A little more introduction than "old but gold" would have been nice ;) Please tell us about your plans about this quartet. How old is this? is the quartet finished or abandoned? are there more movements?

I liked the animato-ness. The stops around the first minutes felt like a too big a stop. It killed the drive. Although it was extremely exciting, like "what's happening!" The way you picked up the drive was good. But such an important element maybe should return later in the piece. There was unfortunately no score, so I could not check it, but I though I did not hear it occur again... (A nice implicit request for a score. I vaguely remember you did not like to, but I hope I am wrong)

again bad midi really makes it hard to get a good idea of. you need to invest in sibelius or something if u cud at all. we hear what sounds like a string orchestra for one thing... however I really like this music. It is cool. It breaks when it needs to give us a breather and otherwise it is wonderfully busy piece with hints of early schoenberg mixed with debussy. well done. id love to hear a real s.q. play it.

Interesting piece, Cj!

--Right from the get-go, it's like living a surreal dream of some sort. I literally had no idea what was going on, and it felt like I was being "tossed around" musically. Very confusing...but in a good way, not an annoying way (in my opinion, anyway). Weird tonalities and chord progressions add to the kind of MAd HaTteR feel of the piece.

--Please upload a PDF if at all possible! Try download "PDFCreator", or something of the sort, as it works with most midi programs, I think.

Thanks for sharing, very neat work :D
