April 4, 201016 yr This wasn't specifically made for the intention of being the game/film music genre, but it seems that is the closest fitting genre to this final product. It's been a while since I have uploaded anything. This is a revised version of a song I never uploaded because I was dissatisfied with the ending, so I completely rewrote the ending. I experimented quite a bit in this song with delay effects on different instruments, especially with the harp, using a dotted 8th note delay, creating a very intricate effect on the eighth note melody. Comments and constructive criticism encouraged. Dream Chasm
April 5, 201016 yr Great work there! You do a good job establishing tension and catching the listener right from the get-go. But I think you should to find more realistic piano software. Anyway, I really like this piece. 10/10. Thank you for sharing. -Minoxor.
April 5, 201016 yr Very nice piece... very moody and ambiental. Everything is pretty well thought trough and well put together musically, I just think it needs some more work production-wise. That amount of delay and reverb for creating these kinds of effects needs to be carefully mixed so it doesn't end up sounding muddy, and thats something that needs a lot of work put in to get right.
April 5, 201016 yr Hey There, This sounds already quite good. However, directly after starting the song, it strikes me that the piano is VERY mechanical. Please change the velocity/attack of the notes. It now just isnt very nice listening to. The harp arpeggio's are very nice, and the drum sounds ok, so it seems like you know how to play around with samples. Please try to do that with the piano. I think the piano is one of the easiest instruments to alter, since the samples always are already pretty extensive, at least that's my experience. greetz
April 5, 201016 yr actually it fits the best as a film or game music , its a bit normal , it doesnt have a big statement , i love the harp arpegios and i like the string melody that comes right after it , the vibes are adding a good sound to it , the drum line is a bit boring , try to change it, or maybe when the second harp arpeggio you should add afew bass drum hits , or triplets , that will give another feeling to it , and i think you should have made an electric guitar solo in the end , as it would fit greatly . but overall its a solid nice piece , keep up the good work
April 6, 201016 yr Overall fairly good. But what's with that sound at the start from 0:06. Is it a harpsichord?? Hmmm... it seems as though you've packed this piece with reverb, a little much for my taste. Overall cool orchestration, and lovely harp lines though!! It did its job, it caught the feeling of a chasm with the reverb and echos. However, be careful when applying this in future - you don't want to make the common mistake of putting too much on ;)
April 6, 201016 yr Author But what's with that sound at the start from 0:06. Is it a harpsichord?? Hmmm... it seems as though you've packed this piece with reverb, a little much for my taste. Overall cool orchestration, and lovely harp lines though!! That instrument is just a grand piano with reverb. The notes are on the lower range though.
April 6, 201016 yr Really well constructed piece - love the delay on the harp, it really captures the dream-like effect. There are a lot of parts playing together but it dosen't feel clustered, which shows it's been thought out well. The piano sounds are maybe a little harsh compared with the rest of the sounds, but musically it's fantastic.
