Etude in D minor

I've posted songs on this site and have never gotten a single review. Originally the tempo was 180 but I decided that was unplayable. I composed in about an hour, so its might be repetitive at the end. Please someone leave a review, I want to know how I can make my music sound better.

Well, to start with there are a lot of things that need to be cleaned up. Specifically with the notation there were a lot of problems. The gaps between the fingers in the right hand were especially large and hardly anyone can expect to be able to read this. However, it doesn't sound awkward to play, it just looks awkward, so some editing needs to be handled here. Also, your piece never tonally changes keys, so any and all key changes are not needed. Simply write in the extra accidentals.

Now, onto the real music. I liked the main theme, and you were very good at developing it in some slight ways. I would consider changing the meter here to 12/8 until you hit the one 4/4 section. The theme was consonant through the piece, but it never resolved. I thought surely you must resolve it in the end, but you didn't. There was also far too much repetition. You had a great piece that would work for a minute or so, but you made it so repetitive that it borders on being predictable.

One more thing. I would suggest starting out slow in the beginning and adding on as you go along. It's too busy from the get-go and there's no suprises through out because of it. Nicely written, though, and also quite interesting.

I write music with fruityloop's step sequencer. I just imported the midi into Finale. I wish I knew how to use finale, then I could actually use tempo and key changes. I'm just use to using a step sequencer. Your right, my song gets annoying after the first minute. I get into a bad habit of repeating bars in fruityloop whenever I make the slightest change. Thanks for the review.

I like what you did with the intro there. 00:30 to 00:40 sounds too empty in my opinion, there is too much left hand in contrast to the right. Also, I think you overdid it with the left hand. I don't think I'd be able to play those sequences at that speed for very long. I wonder if you can actually play this! The left hand requires a lot of work and endurence(unless you're left handed, which will help.)

As for getting reviews, I think you need to understand you should try to contribute to the community first. Read this thread.

Beautiful one. I really can play this on my piano. I like to be moderate with the right hand and hard with the left one.

But, according to the partiture itself, I agree with the others.
