April 28, 201015 yr Cantilenas is a lyrical orchestral piece which focuses on the exploration of two themes interwoven through the instruments of the orchestra. Often, in modern music we get lost in the craft of intervals and architecture and lose the joy of a simple melody. With Cantilenas I tried to create music that was both expressive and melodic while still intricate and interwoven. Composed in a Sonata-Allegro form, typical of many first movements of Romantic symphonies, lyrical sections are interwoven with elements of intense rhythmic manipulation typical of late 20th century music.
