''Goodnight Mr. Renfield''

Featured Replies

This is the 4th piece from the score that I wrote last year for the classic film Dracula (1931) with Bela Lugosi. The piece is very minimal and all I wanted to do in this particular scene was to create an atmosphere not so much frightening but mysterious I would say. My aim when I start writing the score (which includes 8 more pieces) was to see the film with a contemporary look and not to write something usual. You can see the scene combined with the live performance here: ''Goodnight Mr. Renfield - Kostika Collaku [Live]''

Don't you just love the cheesy over-acting of the early-TV era  I do!

--I like the obvious eerieness of the piece, and what sounds like my ears like occasional harsh accidentals then sliding back into key. Gives a sultry, evil feel, which fits with the Dracula mythos.

I don't really have much more to say, other than good job: you fit the scene really well

Excellent! this is the type of stuff I love to see live. I don't really know what was going on in the scene, but the music fit well with the dark and eerie mood. It was also entrancing; I think Dracula could have bit me and I wouldn't have cared. Did you use a click track when composing or did you go by eyes and ears?
