Prosaic

Featured Replies

My of first large form piece. I haven't worked on it since I then but I figured I would go ahead and upload something. You'll have to understand the title to understand the music ;)

Prosaic

Prosaic means "old", in layman's terms.

*Good, smooth modulations. I barely noticed them. :) For a classical piece this is rather adventurous harmonically.

*Okay development; I noticed the inversion of the descending notes, but the first theme I think you could have done more.

*I also wish you'd stayed a bit longer in your minor keys.

*Repeated eighth note and quarter note chords get slightly banal in the left hand at times during the piece; it's good that you switch up the left hand some.

*This is your first large form piece? Congrats! Definitely better than my failed attempt at sonata form. :) Keep composing! You're on the right track here. I'll give this a 8/10 (would have given this a 8.5/10) if the system allowed it.)

It's a nice idea, and I think you explore it pretty well :) The thing is, full-on "older style" without some sort of spice to it is a bit much to take! This all feels somewhat flat as a result, although in a pleasant way, still. Some sort of build-up could possibly help with that? Just a thought.

I'll also give this an 8/10: I can tell you put quite a bit of thought into the progressions and such :D Just make sure to liven things up in a piece like this.
