Acquarello autunnale

Piece for violino solo in Impressionism stile, I'm ispirate from autumn....

Acquarello autunnale

I LOVE THIS! I seriously want to make it playable for concert band, since i'm too incompetent to write for anything else! ;D

I don't know much about strings, but wouldn't those chords found in measures like bar 4 and 6 be impossible to play? I know you guys do double stops but i thought that was only for two notes? Anyway, this is really catchy! Just the beginning triplet motif caught my attention!

Great job! (:

thanks for comments, the chord in bar 4 e 6 is possible play: in bar 4 the G and D string are empty and and sufficient to fifth ....

Great! I'm no string player, but it looks like you wrote something that is comfortable to play because of the many open strings. Do you plan on writing a collection of pieces? This works very well as an etude (either for you the composer or the performer). Just be careful of collisions in the score, like the crescendos that run into notes or the slurs that touch the triplet labels.

Excellent piece! Are you a violinist / violist? I just tried this piece on the violin; it falls naturally under the fingers.

Musically it was very evocative of the wind shaking trees. :) Was the choice of "F Major" on purpose? You know, F Major and D Major are both considered 'hunting keys' because many hunting songs were composed in those keys. And the hunt is usually associated with autumn.

I'm not violinist, but I studied orchestration book "The Study of Orchestration" of Samuel Adler where there is a chapter on how to compose for violin.

the choice of "F Major" is determined by the fact that I might have the open strings of the violin in some chord.

For Black Orpheus: I'm not going to compose a collection of pieces, Because this piece wants to be an isolated piece

that piece could be interesting as a concert bis

I like the slight angularity of main melody. If it ended on a root position F major, it might sound more complete at the end.

The final chord isn't in a root position because the F3 is imposibble playing on the violin...

and because the 6th bichord is more nice

Very quirky, I thought  . I would have also ended on a root position F Major (just add the f below the a, it's as easily fingered as anything else...). Otherwise, the modern character of the piece contrasts with the chordal and tonal moments very well, although the slight discontinuity int he melody and the restless style didn't sit all to well with me. Pleasant by all means though.

thanks for your reply, yes the root position of F major is possible but is more but I thought it was too heavy.

An expressive piece--I quite like it. The repetition of the distinctive triplet motif as well as of certain characteristic intervals (like the 4th) make the piece cohere very well. I also like the slightly ambiguous tonality--the piece seems to be based on several shifting modes throughout--it gives the music its mysterious quality. It also looks like it would be fun to play and satisfying to master on the violin!

thanks for your reply

This is a good piece! I love the tonalities that seem circling around G(+added 6th) and Bes, after finally ending in F.

I am not sure, and this is maybe because I always feel some unease with solo pieces, but I think a piano accompagniment could really add to the shpere, and make the tonality even more ambiguous :)

I not used the piano in tihs piece because I just wanted the sound of solo violin...

but in the future it is possible that I develop a version for violin and piano
