June 20, 201016 yr These are all really quite pleasant, nice and dainty which fits the character of the minuet. For the second ending of the 2nd minuet, it would make sense to end on a fully resolved tonic, with the tonic in the soprano. As it is now, the piece doesn't feel complete. I don't know much about the style, but most of them seem to be missing the classic minuet rhythm (which might have only been used in earlier minuets). There are probably other things that make minuets different from other binary dance forms in 3/4, but as I said, I don't know much about the style. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minuet_and_trio You should add trios!

June 20, 201016 yr That first minuet could very well be played on a carillon I think. It kinda has this sound to it, maybe except for the 8th note runs in mm9-11 and the little ornament in m4 - I don't play carillon Nice job on the other 3 as well. I agree with last life though on the ending of minuet 2.

July 18, 201016 yr All of these are lovely, melodic pieces! My advice is to always be vigilant to use the best voicings possible; you do this fairly often in your pieces, but then there are some other voicings that could be improved. For example, in Mov't 3 (measure 3) you have written a D7 harmony, but omitted the crucial 3rd of the chord (F#.) Also - even in a form like a minuet, be ambitious and use some full-textured chords! Most parts of these have no more than 3 voices at once, which sounds great with your voicings, but can be even further improved with some added "oomph." All that nitpicky stuff being said, these are wonderful and stylistic pieces, and you are a very talented composer. Keep up the awesome work!
