Hi everyone,

I have started to write a new song after a long time...This song is going to be played on Christmas by our school orchestra and choir, but I didn´t have the time to work on it so intensive as I would like to do...

Just presenting my first 45 seconds I allready wrote to get a feedback from you...

Hope you enjoy it ;)

Greetz,

Mark

Replacing the synth aahs with real words and the rest of the instruments with real ones will certainly make this sound better.

Those grace notes near the beginning don't sound quite right, but I think that may be caused by the instrument synth.

BTW, how many voice parts do you have? Typically my choir sings 8.

In bar 3, the flute has a very unusual syncopation that doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the piece. It could just be the way it's notated - either way if you want the effect of coming down to the A, just write the previous notes without the offbeat syncopation, at that tempo a real player probably won't be able to play it correctly.

Also, an issue with notation. Always try and show the beat when you are writing syncopations. This might sound trivial, but it makes it easier to read the score and also makes your score more professional. For example, when the guitar first comes in, it has a repeated rhythm of an 8th note followed by a dotted quarter. This should really be notated as an 8th note followed by an 8th note tied to a quarter note. By doing that, it is more obvious the piece is in 4. If you don't believe me, try locating the notation you have in ms 14 in the choir in professional sheet music - you just won't find it notated that way.

I know that this score is incomplete, but you really should add some dynamics, slurs, and articulations - those are really just as important as the notes and rhythms themselves and you should always be thinking about them.

Thanks for the comments mates :o

I´ll try to use the tips you gave me Nightscape! I was always doing it that way and I never had a problem, but others might have some problems...

Thanks again for the tips!

Download the file again and try to open it...maybe your problem is solved then...

I was thinking about writing the lyrics on my own, why are you asking?
