A Walk for Two(Cello and Piano)

Featured Replies

A piece I created with a friend of mine for an animation someone made. I composed for piano and she accompanied on cello. Again, this has not been scored yet and it was improvised over the main themes.

A Walk for Two(Cello and Piano)

First off, very nice playing both of you! Coulda used a bit more on the soft end of the piano part.

The piece itself is very flowing, but harmonically stagnant. The piece definitely could have much more harmonic motion. The fact that the accompaniment line doesn't ever really change further emphasizes the repetitiveness of the harmonies.

But seeing as how the purpose of this piece is to accompany a video, the overall aesthetic is intrinsically linked to the video. Thus it's hard to judge the effect of it without it. Is there a video of this somewhere?

Thanks for sharing! Keep at it.

so freaking amazing:-o <3 the combo cello and piano is ideaal.. maybe next tima a violin?

keep up the good work :D

I really love the emotion and hidden depths to this piece :) You two are a really awesome duo with some very tasty instruments!! I agree with Peter that it could have been developed a little more - it stayed in a very restricted set of broken chords. For a animation, be careful that you don't use it in a happy go lucky scene ;) (or maybe you could, I dunno)

Anyway, since it's a improvisation, nt much criticism to say really, really beautiful music, and hope to see you around!!

The piano accompaniment changes, just the style stays the same.

I like the change at 1:15.

1:39 sounded like you had a slight hiccup in rhythm. You got back on right after which was good.

Yeah man, it's really beautiful. I love piano and cello together. Such a warm colour. I'd love to see it against the animation.

Looking forward to hearing more!

Very nicely done! It really makes me think of a piece I did for a friend's animation project this past year and how I would have liked it to have sounded. This is beautiful!

Sounds very pretty!

I'm rather curious about the recording. How many mics did you use and where did you put them? (I also do a piano recording sometimes and it never really sounds the way I want it to :)

I don't really mind there being little harmonic changes, on the contrary it makes this track very pleasant to listen to. You're putting a lot of emotion in there with your playing. Good work!

I think we only used two mics, one for the piano and one for the cello with a small wall in between us so it wouldn't make the sound muddy. :) I don't know must about any of the other mechanics of the recording.
