Piece for String Ensemble

Featured Replies

A piece for a string ensmble. Generally, there are three groups of instruments (Violins, Violas, Cellas) of which some occasionally split into more than one voice.Arch form ABCBA.This is a minor piece, I post it more from curiosity whether I will get some comments than to impress anyone. :)

I'm happy without a score but I know from experience a lot of people like to see a score to see whats happening instead.

I like this piece very baroque and I like the transitions from one section to another.

I'd have to disagree strongly with Madman 3123. This is your own style, not baroque. It's better that way. Dynamics? None?

Just because it is her(?) own style doesn't mean it can't still be in the baroque style.

People now tend to follow less of the rules that are in forms like baroque and let their own outside influences and styles leak in, surely if the composer feels that it is baroque then provided its not 100% another genre like punk or minimalism and contains baroque elements then we can call it baroque.

Personally it reminded my of baroque, Misha put the genre as baroque and a lack of dynamics was something that was common in baroque music due to a lot of instruments of the time.

Not trying to sound scallopy or anything, I just think that you can write music in a genre and still make it your own. Otherwise every time someone did something innovative we'd have to create a new genre!

Just because it is her(?)

Sorry for being somewhat off, but I am *he*. It is just one more Slavic nickname that is actually feminine in Germanic languages` space, but is generally given only to boys here.

I expected somebody would argue about the baroque classification. :) I myself am not expert on the field of classification, so I can only listen to what others say. :) I can agree it doesn't sound like one of Bach's or Handel's works I've heard, but the Madman's line of thinking does pretty much correspond to mine.

Dynamics? None?

None. I didn't feel like I needed it for this work. You can think of it as of a small piece that can be also played on an organ.

Ah sorry about that I thought misha sounded feminine but i couldn't be sure hence the question mark.

Just so I'm on topic as I said before I like it :D
