September 6, 201015 yr It doesn't seem like your score matches your playing? Other than that it sounds good. I like the pulse of energy the bass notes bring to the piece. The harmonies where nice as well and the spontaneity works well, as in, it was spontaneous but it didn't feel out of place.Reminds me of a mixture between jazz and blues improvisation. Could you give a little more background on the piece?
September 6, 201015 yr Author there are parts of the score not matching the piece as I recorded the song, then scored it. Because it was spontaneous I could not duplicate exactly what was played. My pieces are all emotional pieces if that makes sense. Expressing my feelings of dealing with an ilness and the possible loss of a family member. This piece is one of many. Scoring is extremely difficult for me as its been years since I studied music. It was quite an achievement for me to have this paper. Appreciate your comments
September 6, 201015 yr Firstly, I like the improvisatory. Secondly, I don't mean to be rude especially to a newcomer (welcome to YC!! :) ), but what's written in the score you uploaded is not at all what you played in the uploaded audio. There's no question. I'm kind of wondering how you might think they are remotely the same piece. Since you made a point of saying the improv came first, I'll assume that is the piece. It's very free, very flowing. Repetitive, but with a little bit of harmonic variance to keep it from being banal. I like the jazz inflections. This is what I would call "groove" music. Expressive, musical, but really not that deep. Not always a bad thing. Very nice playing! Thanks for sharing, looking forward to more. :phones:
September 6, 201015 yr Author Thank you Peter_W for your feedback. The score is more for me to capture the "essence" of the piece, being spontaneous I cannot duplicate what I played. Uploaded another. Being new to YC the comments are pretty encouraging.
