Eruption Conduit Zone Act 1

This is another of my songs for the Srb2 Tortured Planet Project. This one is the theme for a volcanic valley leading up to a factory that draws it's power from a lake of lava.

Eruption Conduit Zone Act 1

Helloo,

I see alot of work in this, nice job!:D

Maybe you could try to put some notes of other instruments on counter times. I would compress and put a little more reverb on your drum. Talking drum, you really need some hi hat beat...well...I really miss alot of things in your drum beat in the whole song.

I like your breakdown, the little synth on the left is very cool:P

Keep up the good work, you're on the right road :)

Thanks for your criticism, DomAjean. I love hearing suggestions like the ones you gave, because it actually helps me to improve my music.

Now that you point it out, the drums definitely could use more reverb, I'll be sure to change that. As for a Hi hat, though, I actually kind of did have one, but since it was an electronic drum set, it's not the typical sounding one.

Thanks, though!

I'm a little late since you submitted this over two weeks ago, but I'm gonna leave a review anyway. :)

I really like what you did with all of your synths. They all sounded really nice. I particularly enjoyed the bass synth with the Sega Genesis feel to it. The song flowed very well too. That kind of seamless flow is difficult to achieve (at least it is for me). I thought the only weak spot was the percussion. I just didn't feel like your drums fit into the mix. DomAjean's suggestions would probably help. Drums can be difficult to pin and if you don't get them right they can bring the whole mix down. I also thought the ending was kind of abrupt and unexpected, almost like it stopped before it was finished. Overall though I think you did a really nice job with it.

Hmm... And I was so proud of those drums too. Seems a lot of people think they'er weak though. Does anyone have any specific suggestions on what kind of drums to use? I personally though Electronic Drums would go well with it, but maybe I'm wrong. Now that I see that, I should definitely add some more reverb to them at least. The reason it ends so quickly, is because... *drumroll* It's supposed to loop, it's for in a game.

:D Thanks for the responses everyone!

Yeah I agree on the drums too, if you have anything like Reason 4 carries an extension called scream, you place that with your drums and it could change the sound on them dramatically. Though I'm not sure of what you're using here to make this. But stronger drums other than that, the song sounds like something out of a Sega game, and that's a really good thing. Nice work.

hey .nice piece . i really like the part at 0:20 . its very good . the bass line gives a pretty good groove , one thing i didnt like is the way you change the melodies . i think you can do it in a better way , dont just cut the bass line and the percussions . anyway i really like your piece . keep it up !

I think the biggest thing that seemed out of place for me was the crash cymbal. As for the sound of the drums overall, when I do drums the effects I typically mess around with are distortion, compression, reverb, and delay. I just play around with any combination of those until I have something that sounds nice. However, you did say you were proud of those drums. I think if you like them you should keep them exactly how they are. My belief is that the most important opinion on a mix should always be your own. Overall I really enjoyed everything else about the piece. :)

Haha, in all reality, the only reason I put the crash in there was because I felt there should be one, I never actually thought it fit. :D

Well, I tried putting some effects on it all, nothing even sounded remotely good on it except for reverb, so maybe I'll put some of that in it.

This has "Sonic" written all over it  Not a bad thing at all! The old Sega Sonic games are well known for their great and catchy tunes.

(I actually liked the cymbals, personally! Heh heh. And I love the effect at :21)

This has a great groove, but I agree a little with Abd, the part at :40 seemed rather like a rather obligatory way to change the piece. I think keeping a strong melodic line through-out would be a better idea myself -- but it's honestly not a big deal, just a nitpick.

Thanks for sharing, this is great work! Your employer is lucky :phones:
