Midnight Dance

Featured Replies

this is a fun little song in e minor for an orchestra or chamber group, it has a repeating bass line underneth different melodies and countermelodies throughout the piece. not so sure about the name, i haven't quite gotten there yet. Midnight Dance

Midnight Dance

Not a terrible piece by any means, but it could really, really use some spice. The chord structure was the same throughout the entire piece - E-C-D-D, repeating the entire time, with the same 3-quarternote motif in every measure, almost. Yes, you did layer different melodies over these figures well, but the entire piece was rather static. I'm sure this can be, in part, blamed on the MIDI as well.

I also didn't think that the repeats were very necessary. At the very least, the repeat of the second section, right before the end, was kind of needless, because the entire section was devoid of any strong melody. I would like to see more contrast, excitement, variation, and development. But, overall, I liked it. I liked the mood it conveyed.
