Petite Mazurka for Piano

I like it a lot! Great harmonies and a nice melody. Great for a beginner I'd say and sounds like fun to play. Excellent work!

Very nice piece, but There are some errors:

for esample in M8 there is, in the melody, C,B but the note is not justified by the harmony

It would be more correct to use D,C

In M1 the are C,Eb,A It would be more correct to use D#,E ....

I suggest you study harmony

@andreavezzoli: Sorry, but you're corrections are confusing me. I can't find the notes you seem to be referring to. =/

What are you talking about? This is the 21st centurey, people can do what they want if they think it sounds good... And it DOES sound good.

Unless I'm getting measure numbers confused, there isn't even anything theretically wrong with it that I can see, I have no idea what you are talking about.

Also, I think that in this situation the enharmonic spelling could go either way, consedring the Eb is a passing note.

Edit: Except, snce you have an E in the left hand, D# might be more appropriate, unless this was being written for a string quartet, where D# and Eb would imply diffrent intonations. (In where, I think Eb would be appropriate)

Very cute! There's a certain unconventional touch to this that adds charm for me -- measures like 2 and 6 have a pretty unusual sound, and I think you end the piece on an "imperfect" cadence, since the key is technically C Major, which again lends it a cute feel, in this case. Very nice! :D

I felt the sffz was a little strange though -- what's its purpose? Why does that note in particular need it? It doesn't seem to be a particularly climactic chord or anything -- what it does do is go "up" higher in this recap then it did before, and this is a subtle change that does give that note a certain importance. I think an simple accent instead of a giant sffz symbol fits the understated feel of the piece better :hmmm:

It's just a little thing, but for some reason, I felt compelled to mention it.

Anyways, this is a nice little piece that's not too difficult. Good luck in the competition!

I just felt that note needed to stand out. Though you're right, an accent would probably be better.

Thanks. =)

We are in the twenty-first century, but this piece shows a style of the nineteenth century and.

Some are for me the errorors in the piece about appoggiaturas and notes out of harmony.

But it is only my opinion

Kind of odd and pretty chumpy... this did not appeal to me. I agree with Andreavezzoli, this piece seems somehow taken out of context.
