Sorry guys, i know its a bit too big, but I'll promise I'll fix that ASAP. thx

Hi,

Yep, a bit long what with having to fight a few bosses on the way! :D

Dare say that's why no one has commented.

It's a lovely piece, like you might get in Fable, a bit antique, medieval perhaps with the modal writing.

I did download it as a wav - crikey. By the time I noticed it, the file was already on its way so what the heck!

Can I suggest you get some software like CDex to convert wavs to mp3? I think this is it:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/cdexos/

Cheers

In case you haven't realized, a week on "Earth" is 7 days... not 3.

Yah, 23 megs, that's a bit huge, especially with the slow server.

I kept seeing this topic get bumped up, so I figured it must be worth hearing. But the download's taking forever... I'd suggest zipping it to save time. I'll post again when I'm done actually listenning.

Beautiful piece, sounds very ambient, a good backround music to a town. I could never see it in a game like Final Fantasy or Breath of Fire, but things like Everquest or Fable, for sure. I don't know why, its just a sort of chemistry thing.

I'm glad I downloaded this while taking a nap, it was worth it. Beautiful piece, it really has a village-like care-free feel to it.

It's a shame that it's so big though, a lot of people must have been scared off by its size. This is worth hearing; and is a lot better than a lot of the typical game musics I've heard today.

Although the file size is too big, but I'm glad that I actually spent the time to download it. :D

I can really imagine myself wandering in a town while listening to it. Definitely fits in a traditional RPG game. The flute gives a very peaceful feeling.

Actually, I'm getting interested in your game now after listening to the music. Can you please post some of the screenshots from your game? And can you tell more information about your game? I would love to play it when it's done! ;)

Very nice indeed, especially considering I don't have to pay James :D (yet...). I remember back when he showed me the song (the first song he showed me); I was completely ". . . . . .", never knew he composed hrhr.

The song really sets up an atmosphere for the like of a village, resulting in an extremely fitting effect. I think a lot of what a composer has to do when associating with a game, is not only to have good songs but also to have good songs that can be easily incorporated into the subject at hand; and that is often quite difficult. Hence, I was very pleased with James' works, for they had both quality and the ability to fit in where they are aimed at.

I made a crappy free forum to post the game just now, but the post is sorta copy pasted from my other post which is formated differently on this forum; so some things might be messed up atm.

There you go for now, but if you download the demo right now it won't work without some other things I have not yet posted, will do later. Keep in touch if you wanna try it.

Anyone wanna hear this piece? All the effort put into it? It's gonna be garbage soon

  • 2 weeks later...

Yout effort won't be a waste, James.. I'm sure a lot people have added it to their playlist, they just forgot to say thank you :)

I've just downloaded it, thanks to you, now I can finally save it to my hard disk without worrying the 20MB+ .wav file haha... :D

I've listened to it again, just as beautiful as it can be~ Sounds like I'm watching a chinese drama where the hero going to an adventure :D

You might wanna edit the first post with that MP3 link though, most people probably won't read this far to get the new link if they're scared off by the first one.

lol, don't worry James, I didn't even try to download the first file after reading the comments and then scrolled down to find the smaller mp3. So it's fine.

Okay, I just reviewed your classical styled piece so now I decided to check out this other style.

I agree that this is a VERY fitting rpg style game village theme piece (lol, that was a little wordy). I am a big fan of that type of music, I have a habit of compiling my favorite little themes into CDs to listen to for pleasure  and I have written a few myself, for a game I was working on briefly. That's beside the point though. I think you did a lovely job. I also think it could loop pretty seamlessly with some manipulation. It reminds me of a lot of the types of games I have played growing up.

That's all, really. I just decided to comment since I listened to it a couple times. Nice!
