untitled string quartet

Featured Replies

One of my more experimental pieces. It's not exactly written with playability in mind, as I can go back and edit it later. This initial form is mostly for experimentation with rhythms and melodies.

Not a bad work. I don't really see anything really experimental here, to be honest. The piece also looks very playable from my standpoint. I think one thing you might want to consider is redoing your transition from the opening section to the more rhythmically driven second section. It's a bit of a drastic change in texture.

I agree with what Jason said. It might be nicer to have a less abrupt change in texture. I like your use of 5/4 time - Odd meters are always fun and rhythmically diverse, and I think you pull this off well.

Great job. I like it! :D

I'm going to have to agree, I see good, solid rhythms, and nicely used harmonies, but the fact that it feels like : IDEA / IDEA / IDEA / Eb || is a bit jarring. Though I don't know if you intended to develop these small experimentations into something else?

I absolutley love the unique phrasing! The timing works out very nicely when you were transitioning from the fast to the slow moving parts. Very well done, and i can tell you as a string player that this is a very good piece for an advanced group of players. I would really like playing it myself but of course i don't want to steal your hard work!!! Keep on posting!!
