From This Day Forward

Written by commission for a wedding. Although it is only a .midi file, I would try to do my best to incorporate and express as much feeling in this piece as possible. Please feel free to critique, it is only my second choral work.

From This Day Forward

Very nice piece! Your lyrics really express a lot of emotion! I'm not sure about how the couple wanted the piece, but perhaps it could be longer? It might also be nice to hear more of a climax. Your piece is very beautiful and expressive, but there is no shape. It gives the same level of feeling and the same patterns throughout the entire piece. You could even emphasize certain phrases by repeating them, and increasing the tension and interest, until it resolves again into the soft spoken passages you have here.

Either way, very nice piece, and your the couple, I think, should be very happy with it.

I don't know much about choral work, but to me this has the potential to sound gorgeous. But I think that the last chord needn't be so loud and bright. Maybe instead of stepping up from the second to last chord, you step down to make a more mellow sound. Or maybe you leave it the same, but just reduce the volume.
