Étude no.1

Featured Replies

First piece I wrote entirely without a piano or any musical reference. It was a good challenge, and I think it resulted in an interesting piece.

Étude no.1

I like the piece! It has a nice jazz feel, but also has some classical elements. Thanks!

Well, I wouldn't be doing my job if I didn't ask what the étude is meant to develop specifically... as it stands, it has more the quality of a perpetual motion than an étude.

In any case, you say you didn't use the piano at all? I personally use the piano as a breeding ground for melodies and sonorities (chords) - I rarely use it as more than that - everyone has their own method, though.

As for the piece, I don't hear anything too out of place, though I suggest you try some more chromatic or modulatory harmonies to get some motion and development going, as it stands I'm hearing much of the same thing material-wise, and the listeners' interest is lost over time. Try varying elements of rhythm, harmony or register to keep the experience fresh. Good luck with your future projects! :santa:

Hey thanks for commenting. Perhaps you don't understand it because you can't see the score, but I will advise you to take Czerny's etudes for piano for example and review the definition of etude.

I understand your comments and I appreciate your help, I'm going to University in composition so hopefully I'll learn more stuff haha ^^

Thanks for the tips.

I like your music ;) they are enjoyable!!! ciaao!
