Slow strings intro to Symphony WIP

Featured Replies

So I started writing a symphony, but I didn't really like how it started. I've been working on the intro, trying to give it a darker, more mysterious tone. Obviously it still needs a ton of work, but crits/comments would be nice. :)

Your Intro is very good. I can even seem to hear what might come after the final eighth notes at the end of it all. I can hear the whole orchestra (or at least most of them) coming into a sort of inferno of music at a fast tempo. The intro you have written is almost atonal, but isn't quite. (If your planning on writing a Romantic era or early 20th century style symphony, I wouldn't recommend atonality. I myself am writing a symphony of my own, and my first movement is finished already and I m on the edge of finishing the third mvt, still on the beginning of the second mvt. and the last movement seems to be the best mvt so far. I can see a very good symphony ahead of you.

Thanks for the feedback!

Here's an update. I removed a few of the dissonances to the beginning and slightly edited the orchestration, and then started working on the Presto section after the intro.

I need to figure out a better transition from the descending run at 2:57 - 3:08 to the trumpet solo. Any suggestions? Any tips in general would be great, thanks.
