Prelude

After a long hiatus from this site and composing in general, I finally composed something I think is worthy to post up here.I'm gonna be entering this and my Second Minute for my preliminary audition for Interlochen, actually. I doubt I'll get in, but I only listed Composition as my third choice, so eh. Prelude

I like it. Sounded very Bach like in some parts, I didn't think the last 3 measures matched the previous mood I thought was being portrayed beforehand. Even though it's a midi, and they don't do a great job imitating pianos, adding dynamics would do wonders. Unless you want it to be played at all one volume...I also suggest adding expressive markings.

At the 3rd and 4th measures before your recapitulation at the end, you were about to go into some tasty chromaticism (especially in the off beats in the right hand), but you sort of ignore a chance to develop things chromatically despite that wonderful window! (Would have nicely mirrored that little chromatic run at measure 17.) Remember that you can't go wrong with chromaticism, especially when you let it trickle in like that

As it is, I like it -- it's retro with a little twist  I like the choice of C Major to F Minor at the beginning, with the B Natural in the left hand.

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for everyone's reviews! With the help of my teacher and the director of music and arts in my district, I edited this a bit. Check it out!

I like the changes! Sounds much better imo. One last suggestion. You don't really need separate dynamic markings for the treble and bass clef. I suggest getting rid of one of the two, so there is only one per phrase.

Is this just a matter of convenience for the performer? I like it better having a bit more control over the dynamics though >< Well, some of the dynamics was because Finale is uncooperative, so... eh. Thank you for the second look!

Not a bad a work. I'll comment on details later. There were a few things that sounded somewhat strange for my taste. I'll tell you later where exactly were those parts. So far, it's a pretty nice job.
