The Uprising

Featured Replies

I wrote this piece quite a while ago, and it was originally going to be a piece of music that I would have imagined to be performed in a concert hall. It turned out like this, in the film kind of style. I think the piece works quite well, perhaps it's a tad repetitive. Anyway any opinions I could get would be great.

Cool piece, Adam!

It does work pretty well. If you're worried about it being too repetitive well I have two suggestions.

1. Don't return to your original material at m. 130. Either write something new, or write it in a different style, orchestration, mode or whatever. It might be interesting to hear the same vocals return but under different music.

2. Take your first 99 bars (which are pretty similar) and change 45 of them. It doesn't matter which 45 you change, as long as they're different in some way. Dynamics, texture, mode. It's all up for grabs =)

Solid work, Adam.

This does give a bit of an "uprising" feel, as in a large rebelion outside gathering for an epic battle. I would definetly like to hear how this would sound live.

Thanks guys  I suppose how repetitive it was would depend on where the piece was being used. I will take a look and see what I could do with it though. I too would love to hear it live, shame I haven't got a string orchestra and choir at the ready!
