Clockwork Armada

Featured Replies

This composition was something I started a few months ago, but then gave up on. When looking through old files, I stumbled on it again, and decided I liked it too much to ignore it any longer. It used to just be the strings, so I added in lots of heavy scraggy like a piano and bass drum and choir. This is another comp for the mod, which hopefully should be released before the end of this year.Enjoy!

Very cool! The pacing seems a little slow, in that the piano gesture repeats over and over and it takes awhile for the rest of the music to come out of it, but if this were for film it would be exactly what you want, the pacing would seem perfect since you're focusing on other things on screen to keep everything moving forward. At the end I love the low tremolo with the high strings overhead, leaves a very 'hollow' feeling without any middle, which is quite eerie. This end bit almost seems to stretch on just long enough that it sounds like it's setting us up for another section of music, instead of fading out, but again for film I don't think it would come across that way.

BTW, I think it's just a little bit funny that our pictures seem to be looking up and contemplating the same thing.

'Tis the sign of a good composer :P Although for some reason its decided to stretch out my face on the forum, which isn't so great. Oh well.

Thanks for your comments. It's music written for a video game modification, so I think the same thing applies with the pacing in that the players attention is going to be on what's happening on screen, with the music there more as a background atmospheric thing. I did at one point consider carrying on past the end point with this one, but I liked the ending as it was, I think 'hollow' as you said is the perfect word really. And because it will be in a video game thing it will loop anyway.

Thanks for listening and commenting :D

Very appropriate title. Very cool underscore right now.

Liking the cresc. at 0:45.

Be careful it's not getting too muddy at 1:26. You have a similar problem at the end with the double bass tremolos. Turn down the reverb a bit and make sure you don't have too many low instruments overlapping each other.

Aside from that mixing issue, it's a pretty solid track.

Nice work, fabledpilgrim!
