Journey to the Sun

Featured Replies

My friend is really into space and the great beyond so I took time to write something dedicated to him. It is as the title says: A Journey to the Sun. It starts slow and deliberate as the astronauts are making their way to the space craft. Almost immediately after takeoff, something goes wrong and sirens go off. It is soon found to be minor and they successfully break the atmosphere. Floating through space, they relax for a time. Then they hit light speed and the music quickens accordingly. Another little soft, relaxation period followed by a triumphant ending to sound the journey's end. This is an older composition of mine and thus has some relatively simple ideas.

I love how you start with the horns to give it a firm introduction, and the drumbeats that seem to paint an epic picture of the journey to the sun above. Seems to depict the scenery very well. And the snare drum part was so cute! Like a little fanfare march...Basically, the melody is well connected with good transitions(that seem to carry different ideas but sounds appropriate in this sense)!

Good depiction of the story! ^^

hope to hear more!

Hi!

Well, this is quite a grand piece. Sounds very march-like!

A few things: 2 piccolos for only 1 spot? No need, just omit the 2nd one.

That timpani solo near the beginning is a bit out of place for me. Also, it's a bit low for a timp solo.

A few little humorous aspects in there, eh? I liked those. We couldn't make our march all serious :P

Agreed, a simple work, but still enjoyable. Needed a bit of change, but good work overall.
