November 18, 201114 yr as an introduction... my name is michael reinmueller. born in austria, kinda' live in canada when i'm there. i say when i'm there because i spend a lot of time in africa. among other things, i work with african choirs, training them and helping in the recording process. we work literally with almost nothing. but that's a separate story. i am also working on a multi-media (video, audiobooks, print) project on health and hygiene. that's very important... dare i say, not only in africa. i have a pretty extensive experience in all aspects of the music industry. from artist (in the early 80's) to producer. have my own indie label. (www.offoffindie.com) labour of love of course. no money in it. i'm a musical naif, basically self-taught and that really shows in one of the projects i am now working on. ergo what follows... i am starting a large project with a chinese media company. it is a children's introduction to classical music. i've been working on it for at least 7 years. it's very difficult to get something new and untested off the ground. the chinese seem to be a lot more open to new projects than the north american and particularly the canadian cultural world. though they move at a glacial pace. and you can't push them! i've written all the music but here is where my lack of formal education really becomes evident. so i am working with an orchestrator to put this together. (always open to orchestrators willing to get involved. particularly those adept at working with sample libraries. there is a bit of money but limited at this stage) because of budget restraints i will be producing this with sample libraries, though my initial desire was to use a youth orchestra. but in this era of massive financial turbulence and potential collapse, (thank you wall street), the arts are badly hit. why invest in a broke-donkey musician when you can throw your money at some gucci adorned wonder boy with the ethics and moral centre of a pin-head. maybe the next volume in the series. anyway that's about it. i will be posting some probably basic questions, but there you have it, when you work with limited resources. BTW, i was born in '56...therefore the old part. thanks m
