Chorale: All Glory Laud and Honor

Featured Replies

Hi everyone!

I've been pecking at this one every so often. It's actually a French Overture, with the chorale All Glory, Laud and Honor "built into it". The chorale's first two lines make up the first statement of the Largo, and the material repeats (conveniently fitting the form of the French overture) for the thrid and fourth lines of the chorale. Then the instrumental fugue ensues, with the fifth and sixth lines entering during the fugue. Finally, returning to the largo, the last two lines of the chorale are stated, bringing the piece to a close.

The chorale "All Glory, Laud and Honor" is typically sung on Palm Sunday, upon Christ's entrance into Jerusalem, and is almost always the entrance hymn of the day! Therefore, it mades sense for this chorale to be presented as a French Overture, since the overture is an opening or an entrance of sorts.

It's first on the list: http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=430217

I apologize in advance for the sloppy singing on my part, as well as the synth and the poor editing. It's just a makeshift recording, to get a feel for the piece. I hope you'll be able to enjoy it, despite these difficulties!

Any comments and criticism would be appreciated! :D - BE

Well, you know what I'm going to say. :D

Wow, I'm very impressed. Very coherent work. The motion is constant, but not busy. Good counterpoint. Also well balanced form.

lovely.

I'll have to listen again to really give specifics, but clearly a nice piece.

:) very very fine composition!!!!! uncommon and exciting harmonic and melodic turns along the flow, and the choral was skillfully added to the fabric, with a poignant effect! warm regards!

You like your French Overtures, don't you. :)

*is impressed*

The vocals sound a little bit synthetic, heh. I thought they were synthesised at first.
