Challenge: Duo's Second Voice

Recommended Posts

Here's a simple and funny challenge: I've attached to this post some files of a Duo. However, there's only one voice of it, the oboe. The other voice must be created for each one who wants to enter the challenge.

There are 3 attachments:

1) a .mus file, if you want to open it directly on Finale (I don't have sibelius);

2) a .mid file, if you don't have finale and want to open the music to compose the second voice;

3) a ;pdf file, if any of the options above are possible and you STILL want to join this, hehe :P

Rules:

a) write the second voice without altering ANYTHING of the first. You are allowed to put dynamic marks ONLY, but you can't put more ornaments, articulations, agogic sings etc. (on your voice, you may do whatever you want).

b) the second instrument is totally free. It can be any ONE-STAFF MELODIC instrument. Ex: you can pick a violin, a flute, even timpani, but not piano, organ, guitar or xylophone.

Deadline: November 14th (2 weeks).

This time, I will pick a winner (if I believe there will be any). I can't offer anything as a prize, but the recognition of the good work.

Questions?

Duo.mid

MusicXML is the way to convert one to the other format, as far as I know. At least from Fin->Sib

As for the challenge. This looks quite interesting.

Although I cannot imagine that these enharmonic spellings are the most logical in the end rest (B# as final note!) and low c db 16ths on the oboe that might be quite awkward, I am really interested to see what people come up with. I might give it a shot too, time permitting. (so probably not :) )

The awkward spelling is intentional. I want to see what people do with it^^ It's rather a provocation , hehe
