BTW, how many nominations have been submitted so far? I don't think too many people are aware about the nominating process being open right now - a risk that I had pointed out before. It may lead into a certain trend or style being over- or under-represented (despite myself trying to supress any stylistical bias when choosing), and its supporters taking that as a pretext for not voting (I saw that in 2011). Asking for two nominations per category might be a relief, but I'd love to see more people throwing their suggestions in.

What are the "rewards" for the winners?

I guess the winning compositions will become either "Major Works" or maybe they would be included in directory "Winning works 2012". I think this would be the best. ;) What do you think?

I like the ceremony page. I finally see faces and real names of all these awarded composers as well. :D

I still suggest to also make a directory producing all winning works for everybody to listen. Maybe it's possible to do this with previous year winners as well. ;)

For the record a question: Do nominated works need to be written in 2012 or (for the first time) uploaded in 2012 at YC?

Hey guys!

We will be having the 2012 YC Awards as planned! :D If you don't know what this is, exactly, then pay attention.

Basically, once a year, we gather up all the best pieces on the site (based on categories that you nominate pieces in as members), and then we vote on them. Basically, it's nothing more than a waste of time but a great one because the hard working members of the site get some kind of recognition! I've won YC awards in the past, and I am sure you will one day too (took me 6 years to win one).

THIS IS MY TIMELINE:

November 5th - Put up planning thread and ask for categories. (CLOSES NOVEMBER 20th)

November 30th - Put up nominations thread. People will nominate pieces written (completed and posted on the site) from December 15th, 2011 - December 15th, 2012. No pieces outside of that time frame will be admitted. (CLOSES DECEMBER 15th)

December 20th - Put up voting thread. You will vote. (CLOSES DECEMBER 31st)

December 31st - all voting is frozen and the counting begins.

January 5th - Results are posted! :D

I seem to recall some more females than just 3 or 4, and also that guys are also picking on each other for supposedly "romancing" them. But anyways, I'm guessing it would be like tossing a piglet into a pool of piranhas... :toothygrin:

I'm fine if there's also a "Cutest guy" thingy ;) . Why do you males need to have all the fun for yourselves?

"YC Cutest male" is like the Mr.YC and Miss.YC suggestions, but we men don't have our computer full of pictures of ourselves, and the Mr.YC poll would have to be restricted to women only because we don't wanna know how it feels to be voted my men....
