music i tried to make

Featured Replies

This is a short piece illustrating some sort of prelude to a battle or skirmish.

1. Techniques used

I used some techniques I knew. I tried to avoid tension and intensity, as for a prelude it would be unnecessary.

2. How long it took to compose the piece

I don't remember. Started near the end of 2004, then picked it up much later.

3. Structure of your piece

I begin with cello and timpani, then build up to a near constant rhythm throughout the song, with no climax.

4. Obstacles when composing

Don't remember obstacles. I just went with it.

5. Summary of overall piece

I think the mp3 took a lot longer to make than the composition itself. Probably because all the tweaking and such to get it right. I think the song definitely conveys a pre-battle them.

Actually, I think it is a pretty good pre-battle theme--it sounds like it could be in Warcraft by Blizzard or something of that nature. It is really good in that the song does not get boring as it continues, and though it does not have any real climax, the entire piece keeps the listener's intrest. However, I didn't like the ending--the song just seemed to get cut off and not really stop--this is just me, though.

Nice, I like!

It really has good potential and I think you got the mood right, but yeah you're probably already aware that the ending does not suck, becasue there is none!

Since you are not reaching a climax, I kind of diasgree with the section of 1:20 since it interferes IMO with the progression, or rather story telling of the piece. Just seems unnessecary, doesn't quite seem to fit.

Well, other than that its good.

What program did you use???
