It looks to me like you're going to have to do some pretty intense score study, or have some experience with the instrument. They are VERY capable instruments. And, very agile. but, they also have almost as tough colloquialisms as the guitar! haha.

Thanks so much Morivou, those are excellent examples. I played marimba in college (before I moved on to composition) but I only used two mallets. Now I can see that the nomenclature is similar to fingering on a piano, very specific.

No problem! As always, never write for something you don't understand. If you've played marimba, and just need to see some more complex scores, use that rep link and buy/find some scores. You'll pick it up quickly. :)
