Art Song for Oboe and Piano

Featured Replies

I attempted an Art Song based off of Dean Young's poem "Bird-Shaped Cliff." Yes, I did get his permission to use his poem for my text-setting melody. Here is a mp3 and PDF score to follow along. Please let me know what you think.

Hi

The melody is nice and the piano is finely worked.

One suggestion: it seems that the piece is always gon on and on, I mean to say, I don'r recognize repetition parts, and for a song (with lyrics) I think it's better.

Sometimes I don't understand the figure thar appears the first time in bar 11. In a tonal context, an odd chord (Bbmaj7) appears an a tremolo strongly marcato with the note B natural,.... The effect is comic, I don't know if that was your intention (the lyrics here: "but then waht?"). If I wanted yo give a comic effect a would add more effects along the piece (not only this one, which appear several times). In a word: it's confusing (for me).
