June 7, 20169 yr Hi, Satie invented Gymnopedias and other kind of pieces. I think they're lovely and quite interesting. I wrote some of them. This one is played by a friend.

I hope that you will not be offended if I post (piggyback) my interpretation of Gnossienne here on your thread. Since it's only an interpretation and not original, I don't know where else to post it, but I just wanted to share.
June 8, 20169 yr Lovely work Luis. It seems that at times you directly imitate the style of the gymnopedie, but you sometimes choose to differ a little and give it a more personal touch. Next time you should write a piece in the form of a pear.

He was one of the pioneers who opened the tonality (in a different manner compared to Wagner), and also he mixed scales and etc...
June 8, 20169 yr This indeed is clearly inspired :) The first think I notice on hearing is a bit of a minor nuisance to me. Bar 5 - 10, (and repeated sections) the bass part and the melody notes on the downbeat, move in parallel fifths. Now is there nothing wrong with a little common era bashing, but this sounds like it could use some more counterpoint to me.
June 9, 20169 yr Author Thanks. However, I don't think Satie uses countrpoint in Gymnopedies or Gnossiennes. About parallel fifths, I don't care, this "rule" belongs to other style. It't my opinion...
June 9, 20169 yr Ahh, the great gymnopedies... some of my favorite piano pieces are Satie's. I see where you were going with bar 5-10, but I think I agrre with jrcramer. Otherwise, I thoroughly enjoyed it!
