Accordion Stream No. 1

Featured Replies

This is my first accordion stream. It is my second composition for accordion. I hope that this one sounds more like an accordion than an organ (I used the MIDI sound instead of the Sibelius 6 sound) and is more in the idiom of the accordion than the organ. I am also posting this under the keyboard section reasoning that the accordion can be considered a keyboard instrument.

For those not familiar with my streams, check out my largely subjective description as posted with my very first stream here:

Generally, I like this more than the soliloquy. I guess my main question is the necessity of the polyrhythms, especially when they don't lead up to anything. It ends up sounding unnecessarily awkward. Other than that, the actual sound of the instrument is more authentic and flows nicer than the other as well. Nice.

Very nice. This definitely sounds more appropriate for the accordion to me. I don't necessarily think there's a problem with using the polyrhythms you use, but I do feel like there could be more of a natural transition between the use of different rhythms, since each section seems to comprise a single rhythmic idea. There ends up being a kind of unnatural suddenness to every change, I think. But in general, a great improvement over your first accordion work.

Thanks Monarcheon and fishyfry for your reviews and valuable feedback. It is great to know that in this accordion piece I have succeeded to compose more appropriately for the accordion.
