A cello duet

I wrote this by hand (mostly) at a music camp I went to. I think I've finally turned into more of a Romantic style though that is a matter of opinion.

I really like it so far. The cello has a beatiful sound up there, please make sure you write low stuff too.

Very nice! I liked it. Very lyrical and Romantic. While listening to this I felt that this could be a slow movement of a suite perhaps. I wouldnt think you are considering this as a stand alone piece. It probably needs a bit more direction, and faster passages, and as Cmaj mentioned, lower notes.

The thought of writing for two cellos are also good, lot of potential and lyricism in this instrument. I believe you can extend this music to a much bigger piece. It started off very good for sure.

I don't know what would make something Romantic, per say, so I won't answer that question. It was quite charming - the only thing I'd have to ask about is something the others already said - the range. The cello can have such lovey dark sounds on the lower strings. While I adore the tension produced by the higher strings I'd enjoy hearing some more variety in the sound in that sense.

Is this a slow movement of a longer piece? I think somebody already asked that, but I'll ask too. I'd be interested in hearing a fast section to accompany this section.

I've been convinced that everyone here wants lower notes so I'll put some in the next section. I don't know what this is going to be as of yet but something with two cellos. I presented it to my cello teacher at a music camp and he thought it was nice. I don't know why but I've always liked high notes on the cello and that's probably why I didn't put any low notes in.

Hey, I don't blame you. I love the sound of the higher notes as well. I've been given the same criticism, actually!

Here's an update with a new section (it starts at measure 38). It's faster and lower in the cello's range.

I liked the slow part better, but both are good.

Slow part, very calming . . . Nice.

Fast part, sounds a little messy.

What do you want us to do? Finish it for you? The allegro is so low I can barely hear it on the midi, but I really like the prelude. Very romantic. keep wiriting.
