Performing "danger music": ok in public?

Featured Replies

Hello all,
I'm a student at a university in Colorado studying percussion performance. I'm planning on playing an original composition on my senior recital that involves both players(myself and a saxophonist) getting stung by a scorpion on the foot while trying to play. He and I understand the risks of performing such a piece, but I'm concerned that the university could be liable if any freak scorpion accident occurs. Should I go through with performing the piece, and should I take any special action?
Thanks!

Yikes...that sounds scary. All I can say is I hope you guys have a great performance.

Let out all your emotion for the audience to see while you're doing this sick jackass-based performance.

Don't forget to record it!

...why....?

You need to make sure the university is fully aware of what you are planning and approves it. If they are holding the event, they will be liable if anything happens. They need the ability to decide whether to assume that risk well in advance.

 Trolls are fun.

Personally, I would not be happy with such a performance. . . Even if the audience does not know what will be performed.

If you really need to do this, be sure that the university know of your plans.

I have no high expectations, but who knows!
