Chrono Trigger Schala's Theme Epic Remix

Featured Replies

Please, criticize the living s**t out of this. I need as much feedback as possible in order to make it better.

To contrast, this is the original song from the game Chrono Trigger, composed by Yasunori Mitsuda.

This is well done. Makes a rather simple, abstract track a lot more dramatic and epic.

As for the criticism you requested. The only thing I can think off is maybe a bit of eq and mastering to help distinguish all the layers a bit more and add some more clarity. That's picking at straws though honestly.

Other than that I really don't think it needs anything.

Keep up the good work.

Whoa, um. I think this sort of treatment to such a tranquilly mysterious song is kind of bizarre (I quite like the original), but regardless:
First, the length. Kinda short, with not very much change. Would be good to have a section after that that's a little more soft or at the very least changes it up, since getting hit full force with the main theme for an entire piece is jading. That's why we call them dynamics; change is what keeps a piece moving and interesting.
The syncopated rhythm underneath the ostinato is also kind of strange. While it does keep rhythmic intrigue, it limits the harmonic intrigue by only going on one chord tone at a time, especially in the beginning.
