90's Style Racing Game

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I've made this piece for a game I'm working on and I was hoping to get some feedback on it. The level it will be featured in is based on an early 90's racing game, similar to the likes of Mario Kart and F-Zero. To achieve the retro feel I compressed to .wav to play at 11025Hz  and used low-quality samples.

Thanks

I find the opening lacking in the same sort of spirit as the rest of the track. Maybe because of the monophonic melody line.
The intermittent pizzicato figure near the start of the track was a little bit out of character.
Modulations to G minor and back were really smooth.
Overall, it's really nice. Good job. I can see it in proper context. It would be better for Mario Kart than F-Zero, considering the speed and story of F-Zero.

To be honest, I think this really fits a title screen or opening (more appropriate for an opening in my opinion), at least...

I really loved it! Very energy-driving, although I'd slightly prefer it more if there were more chords of accompaniment. I think I did actually hear it a bit, and if there really is, maybe you could make them audible just a smidge.
