March 24, 20187 yr Hi guys, Trying to improve my score follow videos and mixing skills: Any questions and comments are welcome! Thomas
March 25, 20187 yr The horns and strings sound great together. Starting with low strings then moving up the register, it builds nicely. In spite of the inherent cliché of the chord progression you made good use of suspensions, some temporary dissonances and generally good voicing throughout.

Never thought of it that way, but makes perfect sense!
March 25, 20187 yr Author For anyone interested I've worked on the mix because of some feedback I got elsewhere. I'm now on version 3: https://www.dropbox.com/s/eyvtqbdh4eim966/Bushido_v3.wav?dl=0
April 2, 20187 yr I think that it sounded very nice. When you reach the climactic motif at the end I think that there could be a bit more movement. The three note motif is definrtly the focal point, but maybe incorpaorate a complex countermelody that makes the ending a bit more unpredictable. Some scales or more interesting countermelody in the low strings or clarinets perhaps, maybe some appreciation. I would suggest something with either a sixteenth or triplet feel. This is truly a beautiful piece. As a hornist, I approve. The trumpet countermelody could be heard louder with some lower instruments with it. This would make for a larger contrast. I really like the piece. Sorry. This refers to the piece itself, not the mixing. Edited April 2, 20187 yr by Trevor

Definitely something I can keep my ear on in the future – compositionally I can't do anymore about it though since it was already recorded.
