I always thought he was Polish or Hungarian or something, Wow, you learn sometihng new everyday.

Interesting fact, Smetana was deaf just like beethoven, and before he wrote Ma vlast too. Smetana also suffered from tinnitus, which caused him to hear a continuous, maddening high note which he described as the "shrill whistle of a first inversion chord of A-flat in the highest register of the piccolo."

Prokofiev and Glinka. Love the Overture to Ruslan and Ludmila, but Kabalevsky is a close second. I'm a nut for Russian composers, so it was hard to vote :glare:

I had to choose Tchaikovsky, then Kabalevsky.

Shostakovich and Borodin.

I love Rimsky-Korsakov's Invisible City of Kitezh as well.
