February 2, 20197 yr This is one I wrote, it is my first attempt at a piano trio. There are 3 movements, the latter 2 of which are connected by attaca (you cannot tell in the computer recording, so I just wanted to point it out). Edited March 20, 20197 yr by qqnz
February 24, 20197 yr I think the piece has a nice flow and continuation of material. If possible, a score always helps us give a little more feedback. While I can't really critique this stylistically, I can say that the balance between the instruments feels natural and nicely crafted.
March 16, 20197 yr Agreed! A score is always helpful. This has a nice variety of material to it. One thing to think about for the next one would be some more held notes for the strings. They tend to cut out when the piano comes to the front of the texture, but you can get some good harmonic mileage out of using them as a pedal note while the piano shifts around them for a more dramatic feel. Great first trio!
