More realistic sounds with GPO and Sibelius?

I downloaded this song, http://www.garritan.com/mp3/Nhick_Giliw_Ko_GPO.mp3 , I was amazed! But I've got a question, how on earth do you get GPO to sound that good? I've never been able to get my compositions that I've made with Sibelius and GPO to sound that good. Any tips?

Find the reverb settings. Set 'dry' all the way up. That solves a big problem. After that, it's all tweaking.

Hm, not sure about Sibelius, but somewhere there should be wet and dry sliders.

Make sure you are looking under the Garritan Ambience settings. There should be quite a few nobs, and on the far right will be the wet and dry sliders.

As to your question. Many of those recordings were made by taking the file into a very good editing/sequencing program such as Cubase, Adobe Audition, etc. Once in that program, there can be many different changes to the piece, dramatic or subtle. These are the settings that really make them sound great. Unfortunately I am still learning all the tricks, but Marius is really good at using GPO with Finale and Adobe Audition. I suggest PMing him.

Ah yes, Adobe Audition, great program. I haven't gotten around to using it to try and improve anything like you mentioned, yet. Should be fun.

dry means there's no reverb. wet means the presence of reverb. so just turn that knob up a bit to get it a little wet
