Reason 3.0

Featured Replies

hi,

im using Reason 3.0 program to create orchestral music, i have the orchestral Refills and i think the instruments are realist and impressive, Reason 3.0 is a powerful motor :sadtears: music software, i liked very much also because its easy to use too. ive heard about Garritan Orchestral software it is good better than Reason 3.0??

well if you can say anything more about reason 3.0 im pleased and talk about Garritan too.

thank you

unless you have the refillls other than the Orkester refill for orchestral samples, then i'm not so sure garritan is better. but if you're referring to the orkester refill. yes. Garritan is better sampled.

I agree reason is easy. But i think it narrows down too much the type of music you can create with it. Generally electronic music. It's not hard to create orchestral work with it, but it's just not very viable with its interface.

I don't think you can do serious orchestral sampling with Reason's orkester refill because there are no special techniques you can use to have the final mix more realistic. No vibrato control, no legato, no marcato, no col legno etcc. It's probably designed for orchestral fills in electronic pop songs.

Also it would be hard to use nnxt's with that intention. (You can do that anyway if you know how to use nnxt very well. But it would be easier to use Halion or something like that.)

All the special techniques are available in Orkester refill. At least it is available in my version, I dont know..

But orchestral samples of GPO I find much more realistic. Although my system is not enough to use it :ermm:

I have used Reason 2.5 extensively in many of my compositions wether orchestral or electronic. I find it very easy and also fun to use reason. You can do all sort of tweakings which makes the program fun to use as well as giving you much more possibilities to work with.

Reason is a great program, but it lacks a number of features that make it less than a complete package for composition. For instance, it can't change meter or tempo in the middle of a tune. - these are huge problems for concert music and a number of other idioms. You can't input notes into a score, uhm, there is no score - Just your basic piano roll editor. Nonetheless, I love the program. I just wish they could figure out how to implement some of those features that are so important to me.

and VSTi/DXi/Gigastudio Rewire support would be great. it seemed to have isolated itself by not doing so.

leightwing, I agree with you. Reason for me is just a fun tool that I use whenever I feel like making some crazy, electronic experimental stuff. Which is more than enough for this kind of needs.

How do I access the acoustic pianos that come with Reason 3.0?

I can get them to load, but I can't play them.

I can play the other sounds that are there when you open the software, but nothing that I have to load in.
