May 28, 20205 yr A very energetic start. it's an interesting arrangement. perhaps you could drop me the score so I can give some better analysis. my first instinct is the trumpet is too loud. either reduce it's volume or reduce how frequently it plays in my opinion. especially as it's written for harpsichord the trumpet drowns it out. perhaps instead of Horns/trumpets have the baseline that it's playing in the lower strings I feel it would mesh better. and then add more of a tutti feel to the second section. I feel you jump far too swiftly back to the A theme. overall some very nice work especially for the A theme. it is a very believable theme and very singable.
May 28, 20205 yr One thing that feels a bit unidiomatic is the constant use of held notes in the ripieno parts, particularly in such a fast movement in the strings. Opens up a lot of opportunities for counterpoint and flourishes, but instead comes off a bit flat.
May 29, 20205 yr Now we are talking. Please post the score. I agree with Monarcheon on his points. Some of the supporting parts need expanding, and in my opinion you need to review the phrasing of some of your ideas.
